The Brooklyn Review is looking for new poetry, fiction, plays, nonfiction and visual art. We are particularly interested in featuring BIPOC voices and perspectives.

All submissions will be considered for both our site and print issues.

Please submit only one work per reading period in any given genre, and please, only original, previously unpublished works. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. Please do not send us multiple submissions, or submit poetry and fiction to the nonfiction category if those genres are closed. 

At different points throughout the year, we accept:

Fiction: up to 7,000 words.

Poetry: up to 5 poems. Please format and submit your work in a single document.

Performance texts: up to 20 pages.

Nonfiction: up to 3,500 words.

Art: Photography, drawings, paintings, comics, multimedia, and digital art. Up to 5 jpegs, pdfs, etc.

We welcome submissions of photography, painting/mixed media, printmaking, film, multimedia, and digital art. We are not interested in AI art. Please include a short bio in your cover letter. You can submit up to 5 files.
